It’s an away day for Wanderers as we head to Bromham for an early morning start. It’s a positive start for Wanderers with some good passing taking us on the attack. Our first clear chance comes from Ewan with a thunderous strike from distance, almost beating the keeper. A flurry of chances for Wanderers is taking us close but we’re yet to find that goal. It’s been a great first period, with some great passing, hard work and some strong tackles, which kept us dominant.
Luca and Daisy start the second period in defence and there’s a switch of wings for Deven and Miles. Bromham are on the offensive early in the quarter but a fast break from Wanderers sees Ewan play it long to Theo who lays it beautifully into Deven’s path. Deven strides through and strikes the ball into the bottom corner. A great goal. Deven then returns the favour to Theo and it takes a great save from Bromhams keeper to prevent a goal.
Another fast break for Wanderers is converted this time, with Theo following up well to toe poke the ball over the line. Henry has done his job in goal on the off chance he’s been needed, as Lucy and Daisy have held solid. Alfie and Ewan are winning everything in midfield and the attacking play of Miles, Deven and Theo has looked threatening.
Bromham have put their big player upfront and he’s causing a threat and Miles, who’s swapped with Henry in goal, is being called into action early. The game is more evenly balanced this period, it’s end to end stuff, when suddenly, out of nothing, Bromham grab a goal back. A lack of concentration at the back with some panicky football has cost Wanderers. Vish will be looking to bring the composure back for the final quarter.
As the final period begins, Bromham go close early, with Henry saving well. Galaxy then immediately push forward with Theo denied by a great save. The game feels on a knife edge until Deven strikes home. A corner for Bromham sees Ewan jump on Alfie’s back to deal with the height threat. Good tactics.Bodies are being put on the line in defence to keep the ball out.
We break again and some great passing between Theo and Deven leads to Zach almost scoring. With 2 minutes left, Bromham score, which could make things a little nervy amongst the parents at least. With everyone checking their watches, the whistle finally blows. Wanderers, perhaps making it a little harder than it should have been. Some impressive football throughout but it was the work rate in the end that shone through.
