Two goals in last minute turn the match in Spartak's favour

This morning Linslade Galaxy U12 Spartak welcomed MK Dons U13 Girls to a chilly Linslade for a friendly fixture.

Spartak took advantage of the opportunity to play a team a year up to have a 11 vs 11 match, something they will have every week next season. However, as Galaxy were without Stan, Matthew and Charlie, Spartak had no subs for the majority of the match until Jack Parker returned for a cameo performance in the last 15 minutes.

MK Dons immediately made it clear that they were a very good team and throughout the match their pressing and tackling off the ball made life very difficult for Galaxy. To be fair to the away side they won most of the 50-50s and clearly showed their physical attributes. When you combine that with the skillful passers and those with real pace in the team, this was going to be a real test for Spartak. This was fully demonstrated after 11 minutes when MK Dons took the lead.

As the half hour of the first half approached Spartak played their best football of the match thus far. The team began to pass the ball beautifully to each other, using both sides of the pitch and incisive through balls. After one well crafted attack the ball reached Oliver M, who striked the ball from 16 yards out. It took a deflection to cruelly beat the opposition goalkeeper, but definitely one to add to Oliver M's collection!

The half-time finished level and I am sure both Managers were asking for that little bit extra from their teams. However, it was MK Dons who reacted best to their half-time team talk 15 minutes into the second half found themselves 3-1 up.

Spartak were rattled, but Bobby rallied the troops and they started again to attack with more purpose. After 25 minutes Jack I scored the best goal of the game with a lovely strike that gave the goalie no chance.

With the time ticking down it appeared that MK Dons were going to go home victorious, but they had not taken into account Spartak's never say die attitude! Luke score in the last minute to draw the teams level. At the re-start MK Dons attacked and their striker was ever so close to nicking the ball before Caelan and scoring, But instead it was Caelan who go their first and suddenly the ball was in the left-hand side of their penalty box where Oliver H kept his cool to score with the very last kick of the game.

This was cruel on MK Dons, who did not deserve to lose this game. However, it was Galaxy who were left celebrating another win this season.

After the match Jack I was deservedly awarded the Gartec player of the match medal. He worked tirelessly on the right-wing, got in some dangerous crosses, provided a least one assist and got his fantastic goal, too.
