U9 BARCA IN ENTERTAINING CLASH VERSUS WALTON MK

Ayden and Alex's tough tackling displays earn them both player of the match awards

(Many thanks to Coach, James, for the match report)

Linslade Galaxy U9 Barca were at Cedars this morning for a league clash against Walton MK U9 All Stars. It was a really entertaining game of football with a big crowd in attendance - all of whom were lucky to witness some good battling football from two well matched teams.

Walton MK started off strongly, with a direct goal right down the middle in the first minute or so of the game. However, Barca worked hard for the remainder of the first half to get a foothold in the contest, and when the whistle blew to start the third quarter, Barca were feeling much more confident as they strode onto pitch.

Up front, Olly and Heidi both did some good work, with both players testing the Walton MK defence and goal. However, it was Leo, who put in a dynamic display all game on the right side of midfield, who found the back of the net for Barca, finishing neatly from a great pass from Heidi.

The midfield three changed throughout the match, with Callum, Ayden, Rudy, Alex and Leo, all slotting into to different midfield positions/roles as the game progressed. All of them chased/pressed the ball hard for the entire match and, when Barca won the ball, tried to play on the front foot to get Barca into dangerous areas of pitch.

At the back, George B and George P-N, partnered with Rudy or Alex, both did a sterling job of challenging the opposition and clearing the ball when necessary. Tyler, in goal, was good with his distribution today, and made an amazing stop in the final quarter of the match, diving to his left to push the ball around the post for a Walton MK corner.

Players of the Match for Barca were Ayden and Alex, both of whom put in tough tackling displays. Ayden did a great job of breaking up the Walton MK play in the middle of the park, and as the match became a bit more stretched, became more confident in his distribution of the ball. Alex played both in defence and midfield and won so many tackles and gained so many yards with his running that he rightly deserved to also pick up a medal.

Well done Ayden, well done Alex and well done Barca!
